Forty years in the computer business and over twenty years specializing in computer performance issues have left me with some thoughts and persepctives that may be of value to other professionals dealing with performance and capacity planning. I plan to write down some of the more interesting episodes that I've dealt with, and am currently dealing with, with the hope that they may be of help elsewhere.
Over those years I've dealt with a lot of architectures. Lots of these names have gone. Many of the operating systems are no longer around. But they all provided an education and their own challenges. Some of the vendors I've dealt with, and in some cases worked for: Control Data, Data General, IBM, Stratus, Tandem. Some of the operating systems: SCOPE, AOS, OS MFT and MVT, VOS, Guardian.
My current practice covers HP NonStop, Stratus VOS, Windows, and UNIX.
Blogging is new for me. I hope you'll find it of interest.
